Never Fear, AMP is Here!
August 8, 2016
After months of talking, testing, and (hopefully) preparing, the AMP roll out is here. While you may have seen AMP search results in the past, they’re going to be unavoidable now. As of August 3rd Google expanded AMP to all mobile search results.
What is AMP?
AMP (or accelerated mobile pages) are Google’s attempt to make information more widely and readily available. An AMP page is essentially a bare bones version of a webpage. They strip out the unnecessary stuff and leave you with images and text; just the information that you need.
Why AMP?
AMP makes the internet faster, more reliable, and more widely available. Because AMP is so stripped down it is easy to access regardless of the strength of your internet connection. It also offers an opportunity for publishers, as AMP results appear above anything else, as you can see here.
This means that your content can be show above any other just by being one of the first to integrate AMP.
How do I set up AMP
AMP requires a bit of work to set up, but once it’s set up the benefits will be worth it. We have a guide to setting up your AMP pages here. You can also contact us at [email protected], and we can get you set up.
